Mobile Patrol or an On-Site Guard?

Planning guide · Day Night Security ·

The choice between mobile patrol and an on-site guard starts with the job that needs doing. A visit to check a closed property is different from keeping a gate staffed throughout a shift. Use these questions to prepare your enquiry.

Match the task to the coverage you should discuss.

Does someone need to stay at one post?

List any task that needs a person present for the whole coverage period. Examples may include a gate used by deliveries, a lobby desk or a door where passes are checked. If that task continues throughout the shift, ask about an on-site guard. A mobile patrol is a visit, so the guard is not continuously at the property between checks. Avoid treating visits as a staffed post.

What needs checking while the site is closed?

If the site is unattended, describe what a visit should check. This might include doors, gates, fences or lighting. Note the areas of concern and the hours when checks are wanted. Day Night Security’s mobile patrol service uses marked vehicles for scheduled and random checks through the night. The details of coverage should be agreed for the property, rather than assumed from the service name.

Is the need routine or triggered by an alarm?

A patrol visit takes place as part of agreed coverage. Alarm response follows an alarm and sends a guard to check the site. These are separate needs to raise with the company. A patrol arrangement should not be taken as automatic confirmation of alarm response. Ask whether the property can be covered, what each service includes and how the arrangement will be confirmed.

Do different hours need different duties?

A property may have busy arrivals before closing and quiet hours afterwards. Write down the working hours, late access and any weekend activity. This makes it easier to discuss where a guard post is needed and where visits may fit. You do not need to decide the whole plan before making contact. You do need to describe the tasks and the times they matter.

Bring a clear brief to the conversation

Prepare the address, property type, dates, coverage hours and a short list of duties. Separate essential tasks from things you want to discuss. Ask how concerns found during coverage will be reported and who should be the site contact. Day Night Security serves Surrey and the Lower Mainland. Use the quote form or call 604-512-9007 to discuss the site. Keep alarm codes and passwords out of the enquiry, and wait for confirmation before relying on coverage.
